What is an XML Sitemap?

An XML sitemap is a file that lists a website's essential pages, making sure search engines like Google and Bing can find and crawl them all. It also provides important metadata about each URL: when it was last updated, how often it changes, and how important it is relative to other URLs on the site.

How to Generate Your Sitemap

  1. List your website URLs in the Enter URLs box (one per line).
  2. Set a default Priority (usually 1.0 for homepages, 0.8 for tools, and 0.5 for articles).
  3. Choose a Change Frequency to hint how often your content updates.
  4. The XML will be generated instantly in the output panel.
  5. Download the file and host it at the root of your domain (e.g., yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml).

SEO Best Practices

Always keep your sitemaps clean and up to date. Avoid including "NoIndex" pages or redirects in your sitemap. Most search engines recommend a limit of 50,000 URLs per single sitemap file.
